Grade II Listed The Feathers Hotel Sold to Local Business Group

Colliers23 August 2023

In August 2023 Colliers announced the sale of The Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, a Grade II listed 21-bedroom hotel in a converted 17th-century town house. The buyer is local developer Daniel Ede, who intends to keep it operating as a hotel. It was sold after a highly confidential marketing process.

His Ede Homes Group already owns Old Abbey House in Abingdon and the no192 hotel in Oxford, besides building new homes in the region. The Feathers sits close to Blenheim Palace, Bicester Village and the Cotswolds.

Ede, who has lived in Woodstock, called the hotel a historic and well-known part of the town. He plans to build on its reputation, bring in new technology over time and preserve its character. He added that the group will soon open The Edge, a 38-bedroom contemporary hotel in the former Victoria Hotel, and that its hotels and housing schemes in Oxford and Gloucestershire help attract visitors as well as residents.

The seller, Pank Koria, said he was pleased to have steered the hotel from near closure after the pandemic to a full reopening and to have found capable hoteliers to take it on. Peter Brunt, a director in Colliers' Hotels Agency who handled the sale, said it drew strong interest because of its Cotswolds location and that he was glad the new owner was committed to hospitality use and further investment.
