HSB Completes Acquisition of Premier Guarantee
On 5 April 2022, HSB (UK and Ireland) announced that it had completed the purchase of the MD Group, which includes its managing general agent, MD Insurance Services, and the Premier Guarantee structural warranty brand. The group also has building surveying expertise.
HSB said the deal supports its UK growth plans by broadening what it offers to the construction sector and creating an engineering-led specialist business focused on risk management. HSB's chief executive, Stephen Worrall, welcomed the Premier Guarantee staff and said the combined group would strengthen its position as a specialist insurer and offer customers a wider range of solutions.
Premier Guarantee will remain based in Birkenhead, with Jacki Goodman continuing as managing director, now reporting to Worrall. She said HSB valued the firm's knowledge and that the two companies' skills complemented each other.
HSB had worked with the MD Group since 2012, providing machinery inherent defects insurance and later the main insurance capacity for its inherent defects facility. Premier Guarantee, then in its 25th year, supplies structural warranties, building control and further insurance services nationwide. The MD Group employed 443 people, among them building surveyors working in the field across the country.
