Neil Slater Appointed New Chair of LandAid's Board of Trustees

LandAid, the property industry charity, announced in March 2022 that Neil Slater, Global Head of Real Assets at abrdn, would become its Chair of Trustees from 1 April 2022. He succeeds Rob Bould, who led the charity for three years and served as a trustee for over thirteen.
Slater joined abrdn in 2011 and ran its Japanese business as chief executive from 2015 to 2019. His priorities include backing the chief executive in delivering LandAid's new three-year strategy, which includes providing 1,000 homes for young people facing homelessness, and helping property firms meet the social side of their ESG commitments. He said youth homelessness was still growing and that meaningful ESG investment had become a moral and commercial necessity.
Several other board changes were announced. Founder Mike Slade, who started the charity in 1986, retires as a trustee but stays as Life President. Also leaving are Alistair Elliott (Knight Frank) and David Erwin (Dunluce Property), and Mark Reynolds of Mace Group had resigned in December 2021. Joining are Gemma Kataky (Blackstone) and Damian Wild (EG), the latter also taking over as Chair of the Fundraising Committee.
Chief executive Paul Morrish welcomed the new arrivals, thanked those leaving and credited Bould as an excellent chair. He also thanked Granger Reis for running the executive search. The changes followed the recent appointment of two regional board chairs: Daniel Mulligan (Glenn Howell Architects), who leads the Midlands board, and Nathan Cornish (Urban Splash), who leads the North West one.
