Sovereign and Network Homes Merge with New Executive Board

UK Property Forums9 October 2023

Housing associations Sovereign and Network Homes merged in October 2023 to form SNG, the Sovereign Network Group. The merger was announced on 13 March 2023, and both boards approved the final business case on 7 September 2023. The new group has over 82,000 homes and more than 210,000 customers in London, Hertfordshire and southern England.

Mark Washer is chief executive, with Helen Evans as deputy chief executive. Paul Massara chairs the board and Jon Gooding is deputy chair. Washer said the group was now focused on delivering benefits for customers, and that its combined strength would let it stay ambitious about building more, and more sustainable, homes, with environmental commitment and social benefit for communities built in from the start.

An Executive Board will run the business, with these members reporting to Washer: Evans; Jamie Ratcliff, chief communities and sustainability officer; Kevin Ives, chief information officer; Nicole Sharp, chief customer officer; Peter Benz, chief financial officer; Sally Hyndman, chief people and transformation officer; and chief investment and development officer Tom Titherington.

To keep services running smoothly and continue delivering affordable homes on existing projects, David Gooch (executive director for development in London and Hertfordshire) and Gerry Doherty (executive director of operations for London and Hertfordshire) will both report to Evans.
